The current membership of the CBA is around 700.  Our members are located throughout New Zealand.

Ordinary membership is open to all persons holding a current practising certificate to practise law in New Zealand, and to persons holding a degree in law.  Our membership is not restricted to those practising as Barristers Sole. Ordinary members are entitled to attend vote at general meetings and to be eligible to be nominated or elected as a member of the Executive Committee.

Benefits of membership include regular newsletters and updates on criminal law practice, access to Te Wharenga - the New Zealand Criminal Law Review, discounted rates to attend our annual conference, discounted rates for CPD events throughout the year, and representative services for the profession.

There are discounts on membership fees for recently admitted practitioners (less than seven years post-admission), associate members (judicial or non legal practitioners), and student memberships (for those enrolled at Law School at a New Zealand University).

We also offer corporate memberships for groups or law firms.

Membership fees are as follows.

Full Member - $150 + GST ($172.50)

Associate Member - 100 + GST ($115.00)

Recently Admitted Member - $75 + GST ($86.25)

Student Member - $20 + GST ($23)

Corporate Members - price on application
